Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif held a top-level meeting at his Raiwind residence on Wednesday to take up the energy crisis, wherein he said the resolution of the energy crisis was his party’s first priority.
Addressing the meeting, Nawaz said that after taking over the affairs of the country, his government would bring an end to unannounced load shedding in the country in the first phase.
He said everyone had to work day and night to eliminate load shedding and options such as generating energy via coal and sugarcane would require time.
The PML-N chief added that both local and foreign businessmen needed to invest in the energy sector. He, however, said development funds would not be frozen and diverted to the energy sector.
The meeting was attended by Shaukat Tareen, Mian Mansha, Raja Zafarul Haq, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan, Ishaq Dar and Parvez Rashid, Khawaja Mohammad Asif, Sartaj Aziz, Ahsan Iqbal and renowned energy experts.
Though other challenges faced by the country were also discussed in the meeting, the energy crisis remained the top topic of discussion.
The PML-N chief said the new government would make sincere efforts to improve the situation within minimum possible time.
