Without naming the pages on social media with objectionable content, the Peshawar High Court on Wednesday ordered to block all such pages which contain defamatory content.
Hearing a petition against defamatory content against Islam on Facebook, Peshawar High Court Chief Justice Dost Mohammad Khan said anti-Islam content ignited religious sentiments of Muslims.
The judge sought clarification from all institutions concerned until June 20.
Growing complaints regarding anti-Islam content pages and content on social media have been heard from different circles for last many months.
The court also ordered the Interior Ministry, the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority officials and departments concerned to take immediate measures to block all controversial pages on social media.
