The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday took notice of the gang-rape of a mentally challenged girl in the suburban area of Chiniot.
Chiniot District & Sessions Judge (D&SJ) has been directed to probe into the matter and submit a detailed report regarding steps taken by the local police along with his own comments.
According to details, Mohammad Shahbaz, the victim’s brother, told the police that her sister went to fetch medicine from a quack Sarfraz who took her to an isolated place and raped her along with his accomplices. Later on, they left the victim on a road in an unconscious condition and he took her sister to the hospital, he added.
He said that the local police had refused to register a case. The girl’s family moved an application to the Chiniot DPO for registration of the case. The DPO said he has ordered an inquiry into the matter after which legal action would be taken.
LHC Complaint Cell took serious notice of the issue and directed the concerned D&SJ to look into the matter and submit report within a week positively.
