Where’s my plot?

Citizens who had paid all dues for plots in Sector I-14 10 years ago felt like victims of fraud upon finding out that they had not been allotted plots in the said sector.

The Capital Development Authority (CDA) officials said that the plots had been transferred to Sector I-12 due to Sector I-14’s planning and designing, an unfair arrangement as far as the allottees were concerned. They felt that the CDA’s act would cause them a loss of millions of rupees and they condemned CDA employees for not paying heed to their issues. They told that they were ignored whenever they went to the CDA office with Sector I-12’s files, alleging that only those who bribed the officials had their problems resolved.

Allottee Aamir Abbasi said that he had purchased a 25×50 plot in Sector I-14 around 10 years ago for Rs 1.45 million. In 2013, he tried to sell the plot and presented its documents to a property dealer, who revealed that his plot had been transferred to Sector I-12 without him being informed. He said that he had been visiting the CDA office since but was not given a new allotment file or an authority letter.

Abbasi said that if he had not tried to sell the plot he would never have found out about its transfer and would have faced a loss of five to six lac rupees by selling the old file and authority letter at lower rates.

CDA Planning and Development Member Syed Mustafeen Kazmi could not be reached on his phone for his views on the issue.
