The Supreme Court has sought the details of rescheduled loans worth Rs 38 billion from the Bank of Punjab and turned down the bank’s request to postpone the proceedings for six months. On Monday, a three-member bench led by Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry took up the case for hearing. In his remarks, Justice Chaudhry said that the case is sub-judice but the Bank of Punjab is busy in making deals. The court’s time is very precious and bench would not allow misusing it, he added. The bank’s lawyer, Anwar Mansoor told the court that Bank of Punjab has rescheduled loans of Rs 38 billion. He asked the court to allow the bank six months for better results in this connection. The CJP turned down the bank’s request and said its legal team should complete its arguments as early as possible so that the court may give its decision in the case.
