Peace committee leader’s son among two killed in targeted attack

At least two people were killed and three others injured on Tuesday when a bomb went off near the vehicle of a peace committee leader.

According to details, unknown militants detonated a roadside planted bomb with a remote control device as soon as the peace committee leader’s vehicle passed near it at about 7:40 AM local time in Mingor area of Swat.

The committee leader Mian Shirazi alias Jaja Khan, who is also a local leader of a political party, sustained injuries, while his son and a bodyguard were killed in the attack.

The injured were shifted to Saidu Sharif Hospital where two of them including Jaja Khan were reportedly in critical condition.

The police cordoned off the blast site and started a search operation in the area to hunt down the culprits.
