Foreign Affairs Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani on Monday said that without resolving the Kashmir issue durable peace and sustainable development in nuclear south Asia was impossible.

Giving a briefing to Kashmiri leadership regarding the Kashmir issue he said that Pakistan maintained its bold stance on Kashmir issue on all international forums.

“Organisation of Islamic Countries (OIC) contact group has been made effective and complete support has been provided to Kashmiri’s voice in United Nations General Assembly session”, he added.

The Foreign Affairs secretary lauded the government of Kashmir for making commendable efforts for highlighting the Kashmir issue. He also appreciated the role of Kashmiri diaspora who made successful contributions towards the issue and made it clear that Kashmiris would never back out of their fundamental and recognised right to self determination.

Jilani said, “UN resolutions have been accepted by all stakeholders of the dispute and it’s the best way forward to the solution as international community had also extended its commitment for the implementation of the said resolutions”.

He said that voices from India had started rising for Kashmiris’ rights. He also backed the idea of AJ&K Premier that the newly elected parliament should reassert the joint resolution passed by previous assemblies in Pakistan.
