KESC to end unannounced loadshedding

The Karachi Electric Supply Company (KESC) has announced to end unannounced loadshedding in both residential and industrial areas after matters were settled between Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC) and the KESC, on the direction of Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad.
After violent protests, the governor took notice over the severe loadshedding being varied out in the city and called the senior authorities of KESC and SSGC at the Governor’s House.
According to Governor House spokesman, during the two hour meeting, a schedule was formulated on payment of dues and supply of gas between the two parties
Per agreement, unannounced loadshedding would be bought to an end and old schedule would be reinstated. There would be no loadshedding in industrial areas after 9 am.
Further, the KESC had started receiving around 220 mmcfd of gas from SSGC, after which no loadshedding would be carried out in 55 percent of the city.
On the other hand loadshedding was reported in Garden, Gulshan Iqbal, Jamshed town, Korangi, Dalimiya and many other areas of the metropolis at night, but in other areas the situation was comparatively better than what was experienced last week.
Meanwhile, the KESC said loadshedding duration would be decreased after the provision of gas and industrial areas would be exempted.
