NATO Military Committee Chairman General Knud Bartels called on Chief of Army Staff Ashfaq Kayani at GHQ, Rawalpindi on Tuesday.
Bartels is leading a delegation which is holding meetings with the Pakistani military leadership. The NATO military delegation also held a meeting with Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee Chairman General Khalid Shameem Wynne to review the issues regarding the regional situation and stability in Afghanistan.
The emerging geo-strategic situation of Afghanistan and post-2014 scenario was also part of discussion.
Both the sides expressed their resolve to uproot the violence from Afghanistan through any manner and to establish peace.
General Wynne and General Kayani highlighted the sacrifices being made by the Pakistani soldiers in the war on terror and against the terrorists operating inside Pakistan.
General Bartels also discussed the issues related to the border violation. Both sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of information, intelligence and coordination between the troops acting against terrorists and miscreants on both sides of the border.
The sides also discussed the issues of border security and to deal with the terrorists engaged in anti-state activities in both the countries.
General Bartels also attended a wreath laying ceremony at Shuhada Monument and was presented a guard of honour by a smartly turned out contingent of Pakistan Army.
