Patients in the city’s hospitals faced great inconvenience due to long hours of load shedding.
The worst affected were Benazir Bhutto Hospital Psychiatry Ward’s patients as their ward had no generators.
The patients were compelled to spend all night outdoors, aggravated their mental ailment. The Psychiatry Department Head Dr. Fareed Minhas said that the switch which connected the ward with the generator was not functional and the hospital’s administration had directed to replace or repair it.
Further, the CT scan and X-Ray equipment in Benazir Bhutto Hospital’s emergency ward were also out of order. The hospital’s medical superintendent (MS) Dr Asif Qadir Mir said that the X-Ray machine had been non-functional since 10 days and the mobile machine could not be operated without electricity. “Load shedding in not in our control,” he added.
The patients’ family members demanded the immediate provision of generators to mitigate the patients’ miseries.
