Yaum e Takbir: Pakistan’s 15th year as a nuclear power

Yaum-e- Takbir’s 15th anniversary would be observed today with great zeal throughout Pakistan to mark the country’s addition in the nuclear power states.

The main ceremony would be held in Lahore with Mian Nawaz Sharif as the chief guest.

Pakistan, following India’s nuclear explosion, conducted seven nuclear blasts on May 28, 1998 at Chagai, Balochistan, becoming the world’s 7th nuclear power after the United States, United Kingdom, Russia, China, France and India.

Special seminars, conferences and public meetings would be held by the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) to highlight Dr Abdul Qadir Khan and Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif’s role in acquiring the atomic bomb for Pakistan.

Nawafal would be offered in mosques all over the country and special prayers for the country’s stability and prosperity.

Further, Radio Pakistan would run a special broadcast to celebrate Youm-e-Takbeer today. Special messages from the incumbent Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and other political leaders and important figures would be aired in the morning transmission.

National Broadcasting Service, Radio Pakistan’s dedicated current affairs channel would broadcast a special report about the Day in its programme, “Punjab Online” at 12:05 pm. Further, special discussion titled “Nuclear Tests: A Milestone in Maintaining Balance of Power in South Asia” would also be aired at 03:10 pm.

Moreover, excerpts from Nawaz Sharif’s speech on May 28, 1998would also be featured.
