Sindh Inspector General of Police (IGP) Shahid Nadeem Baloch on Monday sought close coordination among the Central Intelligence Department (CID), Anti-Violent Crime Unit, Anti-Car Lifting Cell, Crime Branch, Special Branch and Surveillance Intelligence Unit (SIU) for a comprehensive approach to eradicate crime and apprehend criminals.
While chairing a meeting, he said the strategy must be equally focused on joint targeted actions complemented by intelligence collection and sharing, that would ultimately lead to strengthening investigations and evidence collection against culprits nabbed by the police.
On the occasion, the IGP registered his serious concern about media reports regarding poor police investigation procedure that favoured criminals as their defence always emerged stronger, thus paving way for their release or being slammed with only lesser degree of punishment when compared to intensity of crime committed by them.
Moreover, IGP Baloch said coordination among different sections of the police department must be fool proof and compact with equal attention given towards efficient handling of samples of proofs collected from the crime scene.
He also directed the police officials to also keep a follow-up of media reports about crime related activities and to initiate a comprehensive action based on concrete evidence against elements involved in notorious activities.
