Jamshed Dasti declined the offer to join Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML-N) and will proceed to the National Assembly as an independent candidate. Dasti, however, decided to give his vote to PML-N chief Nawaz Sharif for the role of the prime minister and hoped to work towards the prosperity of the country.
Dasti won two seats from NA-178 (Muzaffargarh-III) and NA-177 (Muzaffargarh-II) constituencies as an independent candidate after quitting the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP).
It is likely that he will keep the NA-178 seat and his brother Javed Dasti may retain the NA-177 seat as an independent candidate. In an attempt to rope support, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also invited Jamshed Dasti to join his party.
