Rain in upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhawa early on Sunday morning provided temporary relief to the people from the sweltering heat and excessive load shedding.

As the weather improved after the rain, the power shortfall fell to 4,300 Mega Watts (MW) from 7,000 MW.

According to statistics, total power generation stands at 10,000 MW against a demand of 145,000 MW. Post the rain, the gap has shrunk to 4,300 MW.

However, load-shedding continued for 12 hours in urban and for 18 hours in rural areas.

Officials said that the power shortage gap would lessen further in the next few days which would ultimately reduce load-shedding.
