Loadshedding crisis intensified in the provincial metropolis owning to closure of Bin Qasim power plant due to gas shortage, thus adding to the miseries of citizens as scathing heat gripped the country.

Meanwhile, loadshedding stretching over 8 to 10 hours had further added to the woes of the dwellers of the metropolis.

The duration of loadshedding had been increased due to significant shortage of gas, according to Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC).

The areas which were highly affected by the loadshedding included, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, North Karachi, North Nazimabad, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, Shah Faisal Colony, Gulzar Hijri, Metroville and Korangi.

According to KESC, Sui Sothern Gas Company (SSGC) was providing 120 million cubic feet of gas instead of 276 million, which caused at least 560 megawatts electricity shortfall in the city.
Moreover, a KESC representative said that KESC would not be responsible for any mishap and instead the SSGC should be held responsible if law and order situation worsened in the metropolis.

The representative added that KESC would file a case against SSGC for gas supplies shortage.

Meanwhile, reacting to the adversity, several people have taken to the streets to warn the authorities against further power degradation.

  1. Lol! Crying over a mere " 8 to 10 hours " load shedding? We, at Lahore, are experiencing upto 18 to 20 hours of load shedding everyday with temperatures rising beyond 45 C :/
