PML-N shuffling federal police to secure by-polls victory

Postings and transfers have started in the federal police at the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N)’s behest as part of its efforts to win the NA-48 by-polls.

Police sources said that the PML-N had accelerated efforts to regain the national assembly seat which it had lost in the general elections to Pakistan Tehrik e Insaf (PTI)’s Javed Hashmi, who will vacate this seat. PTI’s Asad Omar and PML-N’s Anjum Aqeel Khan would be the main contenders in this constituency.

Sources held that Anjum Aqeel Khan was all set to win from polling stations where his votes tally had remained low during the May 11 polls. It was learnt that he has been exercising influence through the police for this purpose, and the recent reshuffling in the federal police was being linked to Khan’s manoeuvring for victory.

Police sources said that the Islamabad Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) posted Golra Sharif Station House Officer (SHO) Abid Ikram to the Sabzi Mandi police station as SHO, and transferred the previous Sabzi Mandi SHO to Rescue 15. He also appointed Inspector Mehr Munawwar as Golra Sharif SHO.
