Former India cricketer Kirti Azad on Saturday said in an explosive statement to Times Now that Rs 40,000 crore from cricket fixing lands in Pakistan to fund anti-terror activities in India.
Azad, Member of Parliament, further said that Mumbai Police knew about the activities.
Azad had demanded a ban on the cash-rich T20 league last year after five players were caught on camera for accepting money for spot-fixing by India TV, who had carried out a sting operation.
The allegations by Azad have come at a time when Indian cricket has been rocked by the betting scandal. Three prominent cricketers along with a few bookies have already been arrested for spot-fixing.
Bollywood actor Vindoo Dara Singh and son-in-law of BCCI President N Srinivasan, Gurunath Meiyappan have also been arrested by the Mumbai Crime Branch for their alleged involvement in betting in the ongoing edition of the IPL.
