Police on Saturday arrested Maulana Hifzur Rehman, eldest son of Allama Abdur Rasheed Bilal, head of a religious seminary at Khan Garh in connection with the kidnapping of Ali Haider Gilani.
The son of former premier Yousaf Raza Gilani was abducted from Multan a day before the general election.
According to media reports, Maulana Abdur Rasheed Bilal claimed his son was innocent, adding he had around Rs 500,000 cash with him at the time of his arrest.
Moreover, Bilal maintained that the amount did not belong to his son and he was keeping it for someone as trust money.
Bilal demanded the government to release his son along with recovery of the said money.
No one trusts a Moulana these days. He must have received a share for his role in this kidnapping. Kidnappers are taking much bigger risks by kidnapping the rich and very rich to get big ransom money. All such persons who have become filthy rich overnight cannot have peace of mind and sound sleep, as long as these circumstances persist.
