  • PML-N spokesman promised local bodies polls by year’s end, talks about new government’s priorities

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Central Information Secretary Mushahidullah Khan on Friday said that the upcoming government would conduct local bodies’ elections by the year’s end.

“Our manifesto committed to hold local bodies elections soon after the general polls to transfer power to the grassroots level and we will uphold that promise,” he said. The PML-N spokesman said that his party had worked out a strategy to tackle the country’s internal and external issues. “Good governance always rests on professionalism, honesty, loyalty and commitment,” he added.

Mushahidullah said that luckily, the PML-N possessed a competent team and hoped that after coming into power they would help resolve all the core issues, adding that no government could overcome a challenge until it defined its priorities. “Our priorities are tackling the energy crisis, law and order situation in Karachi, Quetta and Khyber Paktunkhwa, fragile economy and unemployment” he informed.

He said that unlike the previous government, the PML-N would not create unnecessary ministries which burdened the national exchequer. The PML-N spokesman confirmed that development projects would not be neglected and state-owned entities would be reformed into profit-earning departments.

He said that previous governments allocated funds to public sector organizations facing deficits without taking effective measures for their reformation only to please their favorites.  “Organizations which burden the government should generate their own revenue without any funds from the government,” he said.

  1. Perhaps he is un-aware of his boss statement that election promises are "JOSH-E-KHITABET" and hard to meet with.
