Rawalpindi runs dry

It was learnt on Friday that an acute water shortage hit several areas of Rawalpindi due to unscheduled and prolonged power cuts, further aggravating the miseries of the citizens.

The worst affected areas are Fuji colony, Zia colony, Dhoke Najho, Dhoke Dalal, Chaklala Cantonment and People Colony, Dhoke Kashmiria, Range Road , Masrial Road , PIA Colony, Mubarak Leen Dhama Syidain, Mumtaz Market , 22-number Chungi and adjoining areas.

Residents complained that because of the frequent power outages the tube wells had stopped functioning, resulting in a water supply crisis. They lodged complaints that there was no water for everyday activities, paralyzing their household routines. However, the concern authorities were acting like silent spectators.

The only other available options are water tankers, which cost far too much, protested the residents. They demanded the concerned authorities to take concrete steps for resolving this grave issue.
