The Punjab Emergency Service, Rescue 1122, has declared Poonch House, situated in Saddar, unsafe due to out-of-order fire extinguishers and lack of emergency exit in the building.
According to the emergency service, rescue operation in the building in case of any untoward incident would be extremely difficult.
The Rescue 1122 has sent an official letter to the Rawalpindi Cantonment Board informing about their reservations on the safety situation of the building and suggesting the board to issue a notice to the Poonch House administration in this regard.
Following the recent fire incident in the LDA Plaza Lahore, District Officer (Fire) Abdul Rehman and Fire Officer Deba Shahnaz had visited the Poonch House to inspect the fire-fighting arrangements in the building and declared them inadequate.
