Suspended for indefinite period

The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) has suspended the party membership of Shakeel Umar, Farooq Saleem and Saleem Tajik for an indefinite period.
A statement issued by the MQM the other day said the party chief Altaf Hussain was busy in the continuous process of cleansing undesirable elements from the MQM. Altaf is working 21 to 22 hours a day, it added. Consultations among the members of coordination committee are also part of the process, it further said.
On Wednesday, while addressing the members of coordination committee via telephone at Nine Zero, Altaf Hussain expressed his resolve to cleanse the party of undesirable elements.
He said the MQM strictly prohibited collection of donations, and warned if any office-bearer or worker found involved in this practice, his basic membership would be revoked.
Altaf said the MQM adhered to the policy of ‘zero tolerance’ when it comes to the instances of illegal occupation of land, plots, residences and shops or their sale/purchase, and advised that in case any member of his party was directly or indirectly involved in such practices, he should voluntarily tender his resignation.
