Facing tough questions from judges of the apex court, petitions of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf and Jamaat-e-Islami regarding rigging in general elections were rejected by the Supreme Court on Thursday.

“You have boycotted the election, then why are filing rigging petitions?” Chief Justice Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry asked the JI.

“The decision might be of a political nature,” he further observed.

The JI had filed petition against rigging in Karachi while Abrarul Haq’s petition was against rigging in elections for an NA seat in Narowal.

Following arguments from counsels of both the parties, the judges dismissed the petitions.
