Heat spell to persist for the next three days

Severe temperatures will continue to prevail in most parts of the country for the next three days, Metrological Department said on Thursday.

According to the Met office, Lahore faced its hottest day so far and mercury levels reached 47C (116 degrees Fahrenheit).

Faisalabad baked with 46C, Okara, Sahiwal, Mandi Bahauddin and other cities of central Punjab also saw a hot day with 46C.

Temperatures in Multan were recorded at 45C while Islamabad has been burning with 43C.

The Met office said that south and central Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh and Balochistan will remain in the grip of heat till Friday.

In Kashmir, dry weather is expected in most parts of the region. However, in Gilgit-Baltistan, there are chances of dust-thunderstorms coupled with light rain in isolated places during the next 24 hours.
