Former speaker of the National Assembly Dr Fehmida Mirza is likely to administer the oath taking ceremony of the newly elected members in the first formal session of the National Assembly under the new regime, Pakistan Today has learnt.
A source privy to the National Assembly said that Dr Fehmida Mirza would administer the oath taking of the new members as well as her own oath.
Fehmida Mirza has secured her seat in the recent elections from NA-225, Karachi.
None of the former speakers of the National Assembly managed to regain their seats in the general elections.
In the first session of the National Assembly, after the conclusion of the oath taking of members administered by Dr Fehmida Mirza, the newly elected National Assembly would chose the new speaker and deputy speaker who would lead the business of the house for next term.
