The District Election Commission (DEC) on Wednesday sent a summary of 20 successful candidates’ names to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) after receiving the election expenses returns from the newly-elected legislators, disclosed DEC sources.
According to details, no winning candidate including Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan, Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and Awami Muslim League (AML) leader Sheikh Rashid Ahmed exceeded the expenses limit.
Candidates for the National Assembly were allowed to spend up to Rs 1.5 million, and those for the provincial assemblies were restricted to Rs one million.
NA-50 PML-N candidate Shahid Khaqan Abbasi spent Rs 863,800, PP-1 PML-N candidate Raja Ashfaq Sarwar incurred Rs 534,950 and PML-N contender Raja Muhammad Ali in PP-2 spent Rs 247,350.
Further, PML-N’s Malik Muhammad Abrar from NA-54 incurred Rs 1,31,2340, Malik Iftikhar from PP-10 Rs 981,200 and Raja Muhammad Hanif from PP-14 spent Rs 983,000.
PTI chief Imran Khan spent Rs 635,500 in NA-56, while the election expenditures of his party’s newly elected legislators Siddique Khan from PP-7 were Rs 502,000, Ghulad Sarward Khan from NA-53 Rs 704,000, Malik Taimur from PP-8 Rs 880,957, Asif Mehmood from PP-9 Rs 345,096, Raja Rashid Hafeez from PP-11 Rs 964,995, Ejaz Khan from PP-12 Rs 387,550 and Arif Abbasi from PP-13 Rs 891,734.
AML’s Sheikh Rashid Ahmed spent Rs 1.3 million in NA 55 during his election campaign.
This list will then be compared by the CHIEF ELECTION COMMISSIONER WITH THE LIST HE WAS GIVEN(by Nawaz Sharif) ,only then results will be announced.
