Chinese premier’s visit to further boost sino-pak trade

Federation of Pakistan Chamber of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) President Zubair Ahmad Malik on Monday said that the forthcoming visit of Chinese Prime Minister Li Keqiang to Pakistan will enhance the volume of trade between private sectors of both countries.
The FPCCI chief said Pakistan is a paradise for foreign investment and in particular, there is a vast scope for Chinese private and public sector investment and joint ventures in energy, agriculture, livestock, information technology and other sectors.
Malik said the people of Pakistan always attached great importance to Chinese people since China is a time-tested friend of Pakistan.
He said in view of the changing global scenario and to meet future challenges, both countries must work together in all fields and trade relations must be further strengthened on a long-term basis.
He said China should also help exploit rich natural resources of Pakistan which would improve the national economy and provide ample job opportunities. He said all memorandums of understanding (MoUs) to be inked during the Chines premier’s visit must be implemented in letter and spirit.
Veteran trade leader, SAARC Chamber of Commerce and Industries Pakistan chapter vice president Iftikhar Ali Malik when contacted said Pakistan is currently confronting gas, power and water crises which are damaging the economy. He said China should also help Pakistan in meeting its ever increasing requirement of gas, power and water through joint ventures and soft terms.
He said it is the need of the hour that China being a time-tested friend of Pakistan should also transfer modern technology for exploiting indigenous resources. He further said frequent exchange of visits of private sector delegations in both countries will restore confidence and develop deep understanding and cooperation in all sectors.
Iftikhar Ali Malik said being co-chairman of the businessmen panel, the largest alliance of chambers has announced that all chambers across the country will extend their whole-hearted cooperation and assistance to Chinese investors in Pakistan and provide facilities under a one-window operation.
