Balochistan PPP president resigns

Balochistan Pakistan People’s Party President Sadiq Umrani on Tuesday resigned in the aftermath of defeat in recent elections.
“I have decided to quit the post following defeat in polls,” he said.
He has dispatched the resignation to PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari.
Umrani claimed elections in Balochistan were rigged and under a pre-planned conspiracy he was defeated in PB-28 Naseerabad election. “My voters were made hostage and I was helpless,” he said.
He said women were not allowed to cast their votes in most parts of Balochistan. “Despite repeated requests, the administration was unable to rein in terrorists targeting voters and candidates in my constituency,” he added.
Umrani, who was sacked by Nawab Aslam Raisani as a minister, lashed out at his own party’s government in Balochistan. He said during the 2008 elections, people voted for PPP but 90 percent ministries were given to other parties in Balochistan.
“Had there been PPP government, things would have been different here,” he argued.
