The Supreme Court has sought a written reply from Attorney General Irfan Qadir in the case regarding appointments and postings by the caretaker government and adjourned the hearing until May 28.
The three member bench headed by Chief Justice Iftikhar Mohammad Chaudhry began hearing of the case.
During the course of the hearing on Tuesday, the AGP told the court that appointments in the State Bank were made in line with rules and regulations. However, he requested for time to file a written response. The court accepted the request.
The court inquired whether the finance secretary was present in the court.
Upon learning of his absence, the court expressed annoyance and told his staff to convey to the finance secretary the annoyance of the court.
The AGP told the court that all appointments and transfers made by the caretaker government during its last days were not in violation of rules and regulations. Thus, he needed time to prepare a written response. The court granted him time until May 28 and adjourned the hearing.
