Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain on Tuesday directed all party workers to postpone all ongoing protests until further notice.

Furthermore, the MQM chief called an emergency meeting of all party units in Karachi, including the Muttahida Organising Committee (MOC), its labour division, Rabita Committee, Karachi Tanzeemi Committee (KTC), Sindh Tanzeemi Committee and the women’s wing, to be held on Tuesday evening at 6pm at Azizabad’s Lal Qila Ground.

The directive from the party chief came in the wake of tensions in the city’s political climate that emerged after allegations against Altaf following the killing of Pakistan Tehrik-i-Insaaf (PTI) leader Zahra Shahid.

Zahra’s killing took place hours before re-polling began at 43 polling stations of Karachi’s NA-250 constituency. The re-polling, which was boycotted by MQM and Pakistan Peoples Party, saw PTI candidate Arif Alvi emerge victorious from the National Assembly seat with MQM’s Khushbakht Shujaat as runner-up.

  1. It is high time that Sir Altaf Hussain quit politics, give up the position of Chairman MQM, to pave the way for a better educated and cultured person to lead the Muhajirs. Altaf Hussain has taken Mohajirs into a dark alley which has no way out.

  2. Mr. Altaf how about paying a visit to your beloved country like Musharraf. A lot of water has passed under the bridge since you last left. We miss you!

  3. Stop referring to this low life as MR. and Sir,someone get a rope for him so he can be hung infront of all his supporters,I mean all the morons who support him

  4. I can tell what will happen in the so called "emergency meeting". A certain Don of the Mutahida Qatil Mafia will give a rambling speech, shouting, crying, singing and dancing. He will tell off his underlings, use foul language against the democratic people of Karachi who want to break the shackles and then order protest days, thus resulting in more loss of life, property and earning for the common man.

    May Allah help Pakistan.
