The Ministry of Religious Affairs on Monday imposed Rs 8 million in fines on various private Hajj Group Organisers (HGOs) who failed to provide promised facilities to private Hujjaj last year.
An official said that 68 such HGOs have been referred to the departmental committee for further action. The ministry warned the HGOs that if Hujjaj’s basic needs were not provided for the respective HGO would be black listed.
He said that the Hajj process would commence from September. 35,000 Hujjaj would reach Madina directly. The ministry has started sending felicitation letters to successful Hujjaj.
HGOs would be given Hajj forms by the end of May. Hajj quotas would be allotted only to old and established HGOs this year.
