Hundreds of Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) supporters led by local party leaders staged protests outside the Hyderabad and Karachi Press Clubs on Monday against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) chief Imran Khan’s statements against MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
Hundreds of men, women and youth attended a big rally to condemn PTI Chairman Imran Khan’s statement to media against Altaf Hussain in the backdrop of the killing of PTI’s Sindh vice president Zahra Shahid Hussain on the eve of re-polling in Karachi’s NA-250.
MQM leader and member of party’s Central Rabita Committee Wasim Aftab said party activists could bear everything but derogatory remarks against MQM chief Altaf Hussain would not be tolerated.
Another Rabita Committee member and former provincial health minister Dr Saghir Ahmed said party members and sympathisers from all over the country condemned and were protesting against remarks made by Imran Khan.
Senator Farogh Nasim said a notice was sent to the PTI chief to sue him for Rs 50 billion over the defamatory remarks made against MQM chief Altaf Hussain.
Similarly, the party’s Hyderabad zonal head Mohammad Sharif, joint zonal in-charge Naveed Shamsi, MNA elect Wasim Hussain, MPAs elect Dilawar Qureshi, Sabir Kaimkhani and Rashid Khilji addressed workers during the protest staged outside Hyderabad Press Club.
