Hearing of Adiala jail missing prisoners’ case adjourned

The Supreme Court (SC) on Monday adjourned the hearing of Adiala jail missing prisoners’ case for three days as Justice Sheikh Azmat Saeed was on leave besides issuing notice to home secretary Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP).
A three-member bench, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Iftikhar Chaudhry, took up the case for hearing. Tariq Asad appeared on behalf of the accused.
The court remarked, “As justice Shekh Azmat Saeed is part of this bench and the case will be heard when he returns.”
Asad said illegal proceedings had been initiated against his clients and it was essential that it be got stopped.
The CJP said, “We have already said no innocent can be kept under illegal detention even for a single second. What can we do as one learned member is not part of this bench today being on leave. The case will be heard when he comes.”
