The process of elections remained peaceful and no untoward incident was reported from any of 43 polling stations of constituencies NA- 250, PS-112 and PS-113 on Sunday.
Strict security arrangements have been made at all these polling stations, some of which are said to have a low turn out of voters partly due to boycott announced by the Muttahida Qaumi Movement, Pakistan People’s Party, Jamaat-e-Islami and Majlis-e-Wahdat-ul-Muslimeen (MWM).
However, excitement was observed in the areas inhabited by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) supporters. Some of the PTI supporters in the Defence Housing Authority complained they have been deprived of their right to vote not only on May 11 but on the occasion of re-polling on Sunday too.
Mohammad Akram, one of the voters, said more than 2,000 voters belonged to a polling station. “We all had reached here on May 11 but the polling staff arrived very late and a vast majority of them could not cast their votes. This time round their polling station had not been included among those where re-polling has been ordered,” he complained.
The total number of polling stations in the constituency was 180 and polling at 137 polling stations have already been completed and confirmed on May 11.
