Lahore High Court (LHC) Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Wednesday said the era of monarchs is over. He said the sweet will of an individual will not work now and every thing will happen in line with the law and the constitution.
He gave these remarks during the course of hearing a petition filed against sacking of 20 additional and assistant advocate generals of Punjab.
Counsel for the petitioner took the plea that the Punjab caretaker government had sacked 20 additional and assistant advocate generals illegally. This step by the caretaker government also constituted breach of a notification issued by the election commission, he added.
The caretaker government took the plea that making appointments, transfers and sacking employees was the domain of the government and the court could not interfere in it.
The court nullified orders of the Punjab government and ordered reinstatement of the 20 additional and assistant advocate generals.
