Shahbaz invites Fazl to join government

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz leader Shahbaz Sharif and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) Chief Fazlur Rehman vowed to support each other to bring peace and prosperity in the country in a meeting on Thursday, wherein Shahbaz asked Fazl to join the government in the Centre.

Talking to reporters afterwards, both leaders said establishment of peace in the country was the top priority.

Shahbaz said his party had got simple majority to form government in the Centre and Punjab, while it was forming government with other parties in Balochistan, but the leadership of PML-N wanted to take every party onboard to drag the country out of all crises and challenges.

The former Punjab CM said terrorism, economy and corruption were the major challenges the country faced today, adding that all political forces should join hands to bring Pakistan towards peace, prosperity and transparency.

He said his meeting had been fruitful and he invited the JUI-F to join them in forming the government in the Centre and Balochistan.

To a query regarding PTI’s rigging allegations and sit-ins, he said caretaker CM Najam Sethi had taken strict steps to avoid rigging and there was no reason to believe these allegations when even EU-observers had said that the elections were 90 percent fair and 10 percent of the claimed rigging occurred outside Punjab.

Shahbaz said his party accepted and respect the mandate given by the people to Imran Khan’s party in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and the PML-N allowed and supported the PTI to form a government in the province.

To a query on controversial statement by the MQM chief, Shahbaz said he wished that these kinds of remarks had not been passed, adding that the nation was shocked over Altaf’s statement.

Fazl welcomed Shahbaz’s invitation of joining the government, saying the central executive committee of his party would decide the next strategy.

He said he did not accept the PTI’s mandate in KP, adding that a fake mandate was given to Imran Khan in the province.

The JUI-F chief said the meeting of central executive committee of his party had been called immediately to decide on the participation in the government.
