The Supreme Court (SC) of Pakistan on Thursday sought a para-wise reply from the counsel for victims on the Lal Masjid Commission report.
The three-member bench comprising Chief Justice (CJ) Iftikhar Muhammad Chaudhry, Justice Jawwad S Khawaja and Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry resumed hearing of the case regarding the Lal Masjid operation.
The court directed Tariq Asad, counsel for the affecttees of Lal Masjid operation, to give his viewpoint on 19 recommendations given in the commission’s report.
Tariq Asad submitted a reply regarding the commission’s report.
He said though the commission had honestly prepared the report, several points had been missed that needed to be made the focus.
He said people responsible for the Lal Masjid incident had not been named in the report.
The CJ remarked that the report should not be considered as full and final as the commission only gave suggestions and recommendations while the final decision would be taken by the law enforcing agencies.
When the bench asked Asad to go through point-wise replies, he hesitated to reply. Later the court gave him more time to prepare himself for the case, adjourning hearing till May 21.
