Imran’s ‘Naya Pakistan’ begins with handing over KP Edu Ministry to JI

In a shocking development for many people banking on the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s slogan of ‘Naya Pakistan’, the PTI has decided to give the Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) the provincial ministries of Finance, Education and Ushr and Zakat in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa after a deal was reached between the two parties on forming the government in the province.

The announcement to this effect was made by JI Secretary Information Anwar Niazi following a meeting between JI chief Munawwar Hassan and PTI Chairman Imran Khan at the Shaukat Khanum Memorial Hospital on Wednesday.

Hasan, along with JI General Secretary Liaquat Baloch and other party members, called on Khan to enquire after his health and discuss the formation of government in KP.

After the meeting, Hassan told reporters that as per initial negotiations, the JI will be given three ministries under one senior minister. He had then said that the details of the portfolios which will be allotted to the JI will be announced by Imran Khan later.

The news of the JI getting the Finance and Education portfolios in KP disappointed PTI supporters across the country and evoked criticism of the party’s decision as Imran Khan had centred his election campaign on promises of bringing the education system at par with international standards.

Political observers said the PTI’s decision to give the two most important ministries to the JI would reflect negatively on the party’s slogan of ‘Naya Pakistan’ as not much change was expected from the rightwing JI.

“It’s appalling that Imran has ceded Education Ministry to JI…you can now expect content in KP syllabi which would further foment extremism and hatred,” said a commentator.

    • its mostly needed in sindh as there are 10000 of ghost schools.. in kpk JI had already fulfilled its responsibilities in education and finance so they have got experience and prove in 2002 how well they had performed under musharraf.

  29. this is actually a positive move due to the fact that JI represent a formidable electorate of KP also they have been working towards Islamic modernism in KP and other parts of the country. thier party has honest and trustworthy candidates coming from all walks of life with no major scandals and cases of corruption against them. Ji's own system of accountability will insure that PTI's development programs in KP whether in education or of other various nature will get proper funding with accountability as well as acceptability of the new education system through JI

  31. We should wait for the confirmation by PTI before jumping to the conclusion. If this is something turn out to be true that JI has been alloted Education and Finance ministries, then it'll be a biggest setback for New Pakistan especially Education sector is going to suffer deeply.

  33. Four (3 Juniors +1 Senior) ministries for a total of 7 MPA’s – That’s bit too much. No more than one ministry should be given to JI and perhaps it should be only Zakat and Ushar.

    The actual size of the KP cabinet will determine, if its new Pakistan or not ? If the KP cabinet size is more than 5 or 6 ministers, PTI will fail from the start. With 4:7 ratio, KP is going end up with 29 ministers out of 50 MPA’s. There goes royal highness’ wasteful expense of Public Exchequer ! It will be a new KP for sure, but only worse off than PPPP Govt.

    Even for the province as large as Punjab more than 8 ministries are not justified. East and West Pakistan combined had only 8 ministries and that’s the only time it used to be a peaceful, liveable and corruption free country.

    Someone pertinently asked me what is the biggest wealth one should worry about losing. In these circumstances; I had no hesitation to say all loss if wealth is minuscule in comparison to loss of wealth of curiosity. It is the continued inquisitiveness and curiosity of the human mind and acceptance of our imperfections and fallibility that is uniquely responsible for human progress.

There's no "phobia" w/ Islam which is a beautiful religion we all love, its towards those who twist it, and the mindset of those people who throw rose petals and ask for a pardon (forget leniency) for Salman Taseer's murderer, and so on. Vaqas you are funny!! 🙂 The one part that was wrong was the voting for PTI is haram which was Fazlur Rahman I apologize for the mix up – but it is true that JI has asked for a pardon for Salman Taseer's murderer. I find the comments on WOT being a war against islam as quite disturbing if they also think that and I know JI's leader did say he disagreed with General Kayani's pleas and comments that this was pakistan's war. In those views he is not too much different from PTI. It certainly would have been more funny if they had an alliance with JUI (which has more seats in KPK than JI)….bsc the fatwa that voting for PTI is Haram was quite funny!!

  141. JI in it self is a well organized religious party that has countless non political schemes where they have helped thousands and millions of pakistanis without looking for a publicity. I am not a JI member but have seen them delivered after natural calamities and in rural areas. They have a good network of resources able to deliver. But they have not been used or streamlined to deliver in development of the country. I hope with IK vision the mission of JI can be aligned and strategised to serve Pakistan better, with the will of allah, in sha allah.

Now the schools will also churn out jihadis. When madrasas and schools combine in a common cause God help Pakistan and Islam.
