Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Hamid Khan on Wednesday called for re-election on two National Assembly constituencies of Lahore, NA-125 and NA-122, alleging that massive rigging was carried out in the city.
The PTI has been staging a protest sit-in at Lahore since May 12 against alleged rigging in the May 11 elections.
The sit-in is organised at Lalik Chowk in Defence Housing Authority (DHA) where dozens of party workers and supporters have camped out, calling for re-election in NA-122 and NA-125.
The participants demand that Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) take notice and order recounting in the said constituencies.
PTI supporters allege that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) candidates influenced election results and turned PTI victory into defeat in collaboration with the government’s machinery.
“The PTI has never been aggressive. Maulana Fazl has been in power for a long time. He knows very well how rigging is done,” Hamid Khan said, responding to a question, outside ECP headquarters where he submitted complaints relating to rigging in Lahore.
