The much-hyped Result Management System introduced by the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) in the general elections for speedy delivery of results has failed to achieve the desired goals.
An ECP official said on Thursday that the results of National and provincial assemblies were delayed as returning officers (ROs) failed to understand the new system.
He said in the system, it was made compulsory for the RO to mention male and female turnout of every polling stations separately.
The system was too complicated and time-consuming to compile and dispatch the result to the ECP, he said.
“It was difficult for ROs to follow the system as in the past, total voters turnout was mentioned in the results card, which used to take short time” he added.
The official said that the other reason behind delay in results was increased number of seats, candidates and high voter turnout.
He said the ROs had now been directed to dispatch election results as per the past practice.
