Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Fakhruddin G Ibrahim on Thursday met Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani and thanked him for extending cooperation during polls.
According to the Inter Services Public Relations, the CEC met Kayani and thanked the latter for services rendered by the army during polls. Both also exchanged views on successful materialisation of electoral process.
The army chief reiterated his resolve to extend cooperation in the future as well. He said, “Army respects elected institutions and wants public representatives who have been elected through fair elections should serve the nation.”
Sources said the CEC visited the GHQ as well and met the Military Operations director general. During the meeting the two exchanged views on security arrangements on the occasion of re-polling in NA-250 Karachi.
