PML-N Balochistan President Sardar Sanaullah Zehri on Wednesday announced his candidature for the slot of chief minister, saying if he came into power in the province, his only agenda would be establishing peace in there.

Addressing a press conference, Zehri said Balochistan needed a strong person who could end the situation of uncertainty in the province.

Zehri said all parties wanted to form a strong government that could tackle the law and order effectively. He said today Punjab was developed only because there was peace in the province, which he said was essential for development of any area.

To a question, he said he was the nominated candidate for the chief minister slot in Balochistan as far as the provincial party’s decision was concerned.

To another question, he said a strong opposition was necessary for maintaining good governance, adding that one of the reasons of the failure of the former government was an absence of the opposition benches in Balochistan.

The PML-N leader also termed the May 11 elections free, fair and just, saying his party would also make efforts to talk to the disgruntled Baloch leaders.

To yet another question, Zehri eulogised the competence of General Qadir Baloch and his experience in the security quarters, saying he was the fittest person for the Interior Ministry’s slot.

Zehri was flanked by two winning candidates of PB-2 Raza Muhammad Agha of the Majlis Wahdatul Muslimeen and an independent candidate, Sarfaraz Bugti. Both announced their unconditional support for the PML-N in government formation in Balochistan.

The PML-N has started making efforts for government formation in the provincea and in this connection a delegation of the PkMAP, led by the provincial president of the party, Usman Kakar also met Zehri. The PML-N formed a five-member committee, comprising General Qadir Baloch, Haji Lashkari Raisani, Naseebullah Bazai, Jamal Shah and Sardar Yaqoob Nasir to negotiate a possible coalition with other parties.
