Nizami asks Radio Pakistan to pull up its socks

Caretaker Information Minister Arif Nizami on Wednesday asked Radio Pakistan to further improve its programs’ quality and technical aspects for attracting more audience.

At the briefing at Pakistan Broadcasting Corporation Headquarters, he also stressed the need for enhanced efforts to boost Radio Pakistan’s revenues for overcoming its financial deficit.

The Minister also called for increasing coordination with Pakistan Television (PTV) and the Associated Press of Pakistan for news broadcasting.

He directed programs being aired free of cost to be discontinued.

Nizami reinstated the Radio Khabarnama at 8 pm to draw in more listeners particularly from rural areas. He also allowed increased remuneration for news readers and translators.

Information Secretary Agha Nadeem ordered to reactivate the PBC Academy and to increase its collaboration with other national and international institutions to professionally train its staff.

Radio Pakistan Director General Samina Pervez briefed the Minister regarding the performance of the news, program and engineering sections. She said that Radio Pakistan was working to enhance its revenue by two hundred percent and listenership by fifty percent in the coming year.
