Parliamentary calendar to open with NA session likely on May 28

The Parliamentary calendar of the upcoming parliament is likely to kick start with the first session of the National Assembly that is expected to be open by May 28, Pakistan Today learnt through a reliable source on Tuesday.

A source privy to the National Assembly said the move to hold the first National Assembly session was being made respecting the desire of the would-be prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

Nawaz made the desire keeping in view the five nuclear tests that were conducted by the country on May 28, 1998 when he was premier.

However, naturally the coming session will fall on May 27-28 as on May 13 the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) summoned the statements for electoral expenditures until May 23.

May 25 and May 26 would be Saturday and Sunday, the weekly off days for government.

So naturally the session of the National Assembly per official business is expected to begin by May 27 (Monday) or May 28 (Tuesday) that is celebrated as a Youm-e-Takbir.
