The Muttahida Deeni Mahaz (MDM) on Monday protested over alleged rigging in May 11 general elections in Karachi.
A large number of MDM workers gathered early morning and staged sits-in at various places in Malir, Dawood Chowrangi, Sohrab Gotha and other areas causing sever traffic jams.
The Super Highway on the outskirts of Karachi was also blocked by infuriated protestors who condemned vote-rigging in Karachi.
Markets and business activities were also closed in Malir, Sohrab Goth, Shahrah-e-Pakistan and other areas.
On Sunday, thousands of workers and supporters of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf took to roads and mounted protest at Do-Talwar point of Clifton against the rigging.
The leaders and workers of Pakistan People’s Party, Wahdat Muslimeen, Pakistan Muslim League-Functional (PML-F) and Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) also joined the protest.
All the parties, on the occasion, were in agreement that the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) failed in its duty to hold free and transparent elections.
The party leaders said the PTI will emerge as victorious if re-elections are held in NA 250.
The PTI, JI, Muhajir Qaumi Movement-Haqeeqi (MQM-H), Sunni Ittehad Council (SIC) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Pakistan (JUP) had announced to boycott elections in Karachi and Hyderabad.
