Karachi Water & Sewerage Board (KWSB), while taking notice of illegal additional construction on houses provided to employees and renting out of the government residents, issued a notice that directed more than 70 allottees at Mehmoodabad TP-II pumping station to boot out illegal tenants from government residents within 15 days.
Per notification, salaries of all these officers and staff members were already withheld, whereas last warning had been issued to the illegal tenants to vacate the premises within15 days or face actions under E&D rules.
In this regard, KWSB managing director ordered KWSB Administration director to ensure that all government residence should only be used by government employees. He also directed him to take strict actions against officers or staff members failing to comply with the orders.
It is necessary to mention here that the decision was taken on the basis of reports that KWSB employees were renting their government allotted residents to private tenants. The reports said that the residents had built extra rooms, kitchen and bathrooms to rent out portions of their houses. This was not illegal but was an injustice to government employees who deserved to live there. Furthermore, orders have been issued to put up name plates on all houses to make the checking procedure easier.
Meanwhile, KWSB managing director also directed that all allottees illegally using their residents must be issued show cause notices and copies must be sent to offices of these allottees to ensure that the allottees complied with the orders.
Strict action under E&D rules would be taken against all officers and staff members who would not comply with these orders till May 30.
