Disgraced Wattoo resigns as PPP Punjab chief

After a shameful defeat in the May 11 elections, senior Pakistan People’s Party leader Manzoor Wattoo has tendered a resignation reportedly over party’s failure to grab sufficient seats in Punjab.

Wattoo, who is president of the PPP Punjab chapter, dispatched his resignation to the party chairman, Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, on Tuesday.

Earlier, PPP Vice Chairman Yousaf Raza Gilani also stepped down from his post taking responsibility for the party’s crashing defeat in the elections.

Punjab Governor Mukhdoom Ahmed and Pakistani envoy to US Sherry Rehman also forwarded their resignation.
