Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) won five National Assembly seats of the twin cities in the May 11 polls.
There are total five National Assembly seats in Rawalpindi and two in Islamabad, of which give have been secured by the PML-N.
PML-N’s Shahid Khaqan Abbassi defeated his rival, Pakistan People’s Party (PPP)’s Murtaza Sattiin a close competition in Rawalpindi’s NA-50.
Further, PML-N’s Raja Ikhlas defeated former Prime Minister (PM) Raja Parvez Ashraf with a huge margin in NA-51, while PML-N’s Chauhdry Nisar Ali Khan stood victorious against Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q)’s and PPP’s joint candidate Raja Basharat in NA-52 in Rawalpindi.
However, Pakistan Tehrik-e-Insaf (PTI) candidate Ghulam Sarwar Khan won against Nisar in NA-53 of Taxila, and PML-N’s Malik Abrar defeated PPP’s Zamurad Khan in NA-54 of Rawalpindi.
Moreover, the Awami Muslim League (AML) Chief Sheikh Rasheed defeated PML-N’s Shakil Awan the PTI’s support in NA-55 as they withdrew their own candidate in Rashid’s favour.
In NA-56 of Rawalpindi, PTI Chief Imran Khan won narrowly against PML-N’s Hanif Abbassi.
