The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has sought expenditure details of the election campaign from the winning candidates within 10 days.
It is the constitutional obligation that the session of new assembly should be convened within 21 days after elections so that the election of new prime minister, speaker and deputy speaker might be carried out. Whereas those candidates who have won the elections from more than one constituency must retain only one seat by leaving remaining seats within three days.
Sources said the ECP asked all winning candidates that they not only submit the detail of expenditure of their election campaign but also attach bank statement of the special bank account, which was opened for the electioneering purpose.
The ECP would not issue notification of those candidates, who would fail to put up details of expenditure and accounts.
Similarly, the ECP has called those politicians who got success as independent candidates that they should inform ECP that either they would keep their independent status or join any political party after three days of issuance of notification, so that the proportionate for elections of women and minority seats may be ascertained.
