The metropolis remained calm on Sunday after the hectic activities related to general elections subsided and the public decided to take a well deserved day off by opting to remain at homes.
Majority of the people were seen resting after undergoing the tough exercise of casting their votes and then fixing their eyes on TV screens to learn about the elections results till late night. They were lucky that a weekly holiday followed the next day.
Meanwhile, majority of the shopping centres in the city which were closed on Friday evening, did not re-open on Sunday.
Further, public transport facilities had disappeared from the roads. Presently, the people were eagerly waiting for Monday in the hope of witnessing good political activity.
After the official announcement of the total results by Election Commission of Pakistan, the winning political parties and candidates would formally celebrate their victory.
The people who have largely participated in general elections were expecting a change at the provincial and federal level with the aim to establish peace, maintain security and boost economic and development activities in the country.
